Grant has been at the forefront of technology advancement and integration, teaching in both public and private schools from Preschool to Year 6. In his current role, Grant works alongside staff in integrating innovative practices into the classroom. Grant is the only person in Australia to hold a Master of Education (STEM) in 2018. He graduated with Distinction. Grant is currently undertaking his PhD looking at technological pedagogical content knowledge of primary school teacher in regards to STEM and its authentic integration into the curriculum. He has presented at many conferences over the past few years including Leading a Digital School, K-12 Digital Classroom Practice, EduTech Libraries for Future Learners and FlipCon Aus. Grant also lectures at Western Sydney University in Primary History and Geography in the Master of Teaching degree.
Workshop 1 - 'What is this STEM approach everyone is talking about and how can I integrate it to best maximise student engagement?'
In this workshop Grant Jones will discuss authentic STEM with an interdisciplinary approach linked to research.
In this session, delegates will learn how to engage and spark the creativity of their students through the integration of both the English Curriculum and Digital Technologies Curriculum. Grant will discuss the SAMR model and how it has been designed to help teachers infuse technology into their teaching and learning. Delegates will learn a wide range of differentiated activities that promote future focused learning skills. Grant will also discuss the importance of TPACK (technological pedagogical content knowledge) when teaching both digital technologies and Literacy. Delegates will leave the session inspired to implement ideas learnt throughout the session as they will promote purposeful engagement of all students.

In this session, Grant will discuss how authentic STEM can be used across the curriculum. Delegates will have a chance to brainstorm ideas and through true collaboration during the session, all delegates will walk away with handy STEM teaching ideas to wow their students.
